An intentional midweek pause for mental rejuvenation through creative exploration

Did you know that the best way to quieten mental chatter is to engage in making something with your hands. Creative activity can be engaging and bring you back to the present, while engaging in stimulating problem solving that will not leave your tired but energised instead.

A cozy, calm and welcoming space, the Wednesday Art Club offers a place to breathe, wind down, reconnect with joy, and engage in creative expression as a form of wellbeing.

Hosted at The Art & Therapy Loft, this gathering invites you to explore mediums such as clay, collage, painting, and drawing in a guided, supportive environment without pressure or performance. Here the focus on tasks and outcome is replaced with focus on presence, on enjoying the process, and the fun of exploration. This Art Club is place for adults to play, explore and let go of perfection.

If you have always been curious about art making but think you are not creative or haven’t found the courage, if you have planned to pick up a brush again but can’t seem to get around to it then this is the place to be.

The Wednesday Art Club provides a space to experiment with different materials and mediums to explore what connects with us and brings out our creativity and playful side. There is no pressure to create something beautiful – only to enjoy the process and discover the joy of making art. This is a relaxed, fun and accessible way to do something engaging and meet other like minded people who are curious to explore. No art experience necessary.

Whether one wants a place to mingle while creating or a place to create alongside others The Wednesday Art Club offers a space to make your own.

Every month has a theme that we explore – you can do it in a single medium or explore it through different mediums. The Wednesday Art Club meets twice a month at The Art & therapy Loft. All the materials are provided at the studio.

FAQs

Is this only for people who are creative or artistic?

Not at all, you don’t need to know anything about art. For too long art has been hijacked by artists, you don’t need to be one to enjoy making and playing with art. Just curiosity and excitement for trying is needed.

Is there someone who will teach or lead the sessions?

The Art Club is not a class, so there is no teacher who will tell you exactly what to do. But there will be people who can guide you if you are feeling lost or stuck. There will be plenty of examples and inspirations you can use to start exploring.

What happens in the sessions?

You look around at the material, see what interests you and start playing. You can continue to work with one piece or try different mediums. You start to figure out what is fun or challenging for you and what do you want to try more of next time. Perfection is not sought for.

Is there a fixed number of sessions to attend?

You can come for a drop in session and then sign up for a month. We have 2 sessions every month. There are discounts for 3monthly memberships.

Can I take my artwork with me?

Of course, if yo love it you take it, if you don’t then leave it with us.

Do I need to get anything?

Yes an open mind and readiness to experiment, fail and have fun. The rest is taken care of.

Any age restrictions?

The club is for 15yrs and above, as some materials are not safe for kids.
